district. The old Moorish quarter is a maze
of alleys and small squares. Priego de Cordoba Our nearest large town, it has delightful squares and narrow winding streets. Famous for its Baroque architecture and one of Spain's largest fountains, the town has many restaurants and cafes.
Baena Set on a hillside overlooking a rolling landscape of olive groves from which olive oil, considered some of the best in the region, is produced.
Activities The area is an ideal location for cyclists (the local section of the Green Way Cycle track is 58 kms long). The Subbetica Natural Park with its abundant flora and fauna is the ideal environment for walkers and bird watchers. The surrounding district is also renowned for its exquisite Extra Virgin Olive Oil and it is possible to visit Olive Mills. Nearby Montilla is known for its fine Sherry known locally as Fino. Here it is possible to visit bodegas (where the sherry is stored).
Sierra Nevada Mountains Includes the highest mountain in mainland Spain and also the most southerly ski resort in Europe. An ideal location for a day's skiing, walking or for the more leisurely minded they provide an exquisite backdrop to the Alhambra.
